Sunday

Last night we were able to get to bed earlier than normal, and this morning we were able to sleep in an extra hour. It was great to get some rest. Most of the team was feeling better today, but we still have a few with some stomach issues, so please continue to pray for their recovery. We had a devotional time before breakfast, and after breakfast we had a service here at the ministry center. The worship was especially good, and our kids were really entering in even though they did not fully understand the words. At one point in the service, Emilio invited his folks to lay hands on and pray for our team, explaining that due to the altitude we were suffering some sickness. During our part of the service we did our drama “Who Am I?” and I talked about what it means to be a true follower of Jesus. We then did the “Everything” drama, which was followed by testimonies from Patrice, Pamela, and Adriana. They all did a terrific job! Pam was particularly bold, and we applaud her courage to share her story. Pam shared her testimony in Spanish, and Ady translated in English. It was cool for Ady to then share her testimony in Spanish and for Pam to translate into English. Being bi-lingual is such an awesome gift! After they shared I led people in a prayer of commitment, and we closed with the song “I Now Live”. After the service a bunch of the kids from the orphanage came to me and asked me to play drums. Before you knew it we had about 75 people around the drums, and the worship leader/guitar player and I were playing “Open the Eyes of My Heart” and Adriana and Stan were singing it. I then played “When The Spirit of the Lord” while they sang, and it was only a minute before the guitar player figured out the cords and we jammed out. The kids loved it. After lunch we headed into downtown where we enjoyed a 3-hour bus tour of the city. Unfortunately, because of the size of our group, we had to split into two groups and go on two different busses, but it was still a lot of fun. We were planning to get off the tour busses and do some shopping, but the lady at the info desk told us that if we did that we would risk not being able to get back onto the busses if they were full, so we decided not to get off. We should have! By the time we got back and went to go shopping, most of the vendors were torn down and gone. We did find a place that had a few places open, so we hit that up for a while, so everyone was still able to get some things. Afterward we went across the street to a small shopping mall kind of thing where there was a Starbucks and a McDonalds. All of the kids went to McD’s but Ady and I can’t eat American food while we’re here, so we got some floutas (tacos) and quesadillas. We just returned home and are preparing to turn in for the night. Tomorrow we get up, clean up, spend some time sharing with the leaders here, and heading off to the airport. It only took us 20-minute to get from the airport to the orphanage when we arrived, but tomorrow, due to the time of day we need to be there, it will take 2-hours in the traffic. We’re looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night! Until then …

Awesome Awesome Awesome!!

I hope everyone had fun. enjoy your last day there, but remember that you're still there to praise the Lord and further His kingdom. It doesn't matter what you say if it contradicts what you do. In my experience, the place God has given me to witness the most has been at the airports. In most cases, I don't get to lead anyone in the Sinner's Prayer, but I do have the opportunity to show the love of God by being patient and making the best of the inevitable challenges that happen during international travel.

Be blessed, and be a blessing!
